About me

I arrived to coaching with over 30 years' experience in financial services and consultancy, over half of them in Board and C-Suite roles covering Strategy, Business Development, Product, Marketing and Distribution. Through that time, I've earned a reputation for building empowered and impassioned teams, creating value for everyone involved.

A growing fascination with helping people to develop led me into coaching – I wanted to formalise the learning I had picked up through my career with a recognised qualification, in my case a Postgraduate Certificate in Executive Coaching from the renowned Hult Ashridge Business School.

My approach

The short version

I help people to become more aware of what makes them tick. With this awareness, I help them to find their own development path and improve their performance at work.

The medium version

As an experienced senior executive with a long history of developing and leading highly successful teams, I bring this experience to my coaching, which is pragmatic and person-centred. The essence of my coaching is a belief that the client should take the leading role in the identification of more effective behaviours. A coaching session with me will both support and challenge, always with positive intent.

The long version

My coaching:

  • Combines my leadership experience with the extraordinary value of relational coaching. This gives it depth, from academic study, and edge, from my commercial experience.
  • Is relevant to clients ranging from senior executives to high potential emerging talent in any sector and can help clients to overcome a wide range of ambitions – from the next big presentation to the C-suite ambition.
  • Focuses ‘in the moment', using sessions to raise clients’ awareness of their behaviours, in the belief that, with support, they can find their own path to improved performance.
  • Supports clients who face challenges bringing their true selves to the workplace, and who therefore create tensions as they try to manage their behaviours. These tensions can inhibit personal development and happiness, and clients may have limited, or no awareness of them.

Central to my work is the establishment of a strong working relationship with clients, where mutual trust and respect create a safe environment for honesty and self-discovery. A coaching session with me will be relaxed and conversational, and my inquiry will be positively oriented, never judgemental. Which is not to say that it won't be challenging; it will be, but always with a positive intent.

Coaching creates the opportunity for a level of powerful honesty with oneself. That honesty can be challenging, and, in my clients, I seek to create awareness of the power and mental freedom that can come from holding honest truths and their associated humility. In a corporate world in which image and presentation are dominant, the idea of this may be unusual. However my coaching brings an awareness of these truths, from which clients can find their own ways of bringing them into their workplace behaviours.
